At a news conference held at the DGP headquarters in Guwahati, DGP GP Singh emphasised his enthusiasm to serve the Assamese people.

Digital Desk: The Assam Police on Thursday announced the spokesperson for the main headquarters situated in Guwahati.

Following Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta's retirement, Gyanendra Pratap Singh was chosen to replace him as director general of police (DGP).

IGP Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan has reportedly been named the new spokesperson, according to sources. By the new DGP of Assam, GP Singh, this was announced.

At a news conference held at the DGP headquarters in Guwahati, DGP GP Singh emphasised his enthusiasm to serve the Assamese people.

"I would carry out my duties and responsibilities towards the people of Assam with appropriate respect.

I will make an effort to serve the state's citizens' best interests during my tenure as DGP and to give the police a fresh image," the new DGP said
"I want to provide Assam Police officers a solid foundation.

I'll make an effort to finish any projects that the departing DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta started.

A fresh direction will be provided to the projects that were started three years ago," according to GP Singh.

He added that important state matters would be given top priority.
"All appointed officers must look into severe issues encountered by the citizens.

The issues that are dominating social media will also require our attention.
We'll work to bolster and enhance social media networks

A police officer may need to work longer shifts if necessary, he added.

Singh said, “Top police officers at the district level have to work till 1 am if needed. Problems of female officers will be also looked into. Women officers sometimes face health problems due to a lack of hygienic toilet facilities. Therefore better facilities will be made available for female officers at all spots.”
