Digital Desk: Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati blamed the administration of IIT Guwahati for the death of the third-year B.Tech student Bimlesh Kumar, said, "The administration is responsible for the death of the student."

 Students of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati staged a protest against the administration of IIT Guwahati reacting to the death of Kumar, who reportedly died by committing suicide inside his hostel room. Students raised questions about the academic pressure and strict attendance policies of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) after Kumar was discovered dead on September 9.

Speaking to the media, a student said this is 3rd case of suicide in one year. Two students ended their lives within three weeks. Moreover, five cases of unnatural deaths of IIT Guwahati students have been reported.

Students raised questions about the strict policy of the institute's administration. According to them, Bimlesh was made fail by them due to his low attendance. Because of his failure, he could not attend the entrance examination.

The student added, "We are not only staging a candle march, we gathered in front of the the administration building. We have also talked to the Directors and the deans regarding the incident."
