Digital Desk: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across Assam, with continuous rain expected in 22 districts.

A warning has been issued to alert residents of the affected areas.

An orange alert has been issued for the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Barpeta, indicating very heavy rainfall on June 18.

Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been declared for the following districts - South Salmara, Dhubri, Goalpara, Baksa, Nalbari, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup (Rural), Morigaon, Nagaon, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi, Sivasagar, Majuli, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.

These districts are expected to experience continuous rainfall on Wednesday.

The weather department has predicted very heavy rainfall in 3 districts for June 18. There is a possibility of continuous rainfall in 19 districts on Wednesday.

Residents are strongly advised to remain indoors and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary.
