This announcement arrives amidst a complex meteorological scenario unfolding across the region...

Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised concerns for the Northeast region by issuing orange and yellow alerts, indicating heightened rainfall activity over the next five days. This announcement arrives amidst a complex meteorological scenario unfolding across the region.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation hovers over North East Assam, positioned at an altitude of 1.5 km above mean sea level. This atmospheric phenomenon, coupled with moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal driven by Southerly/Southwesterly winds at lower levels, forebodes light to moderate rainfall in many areas.

However, the IMD alerts of isolated occurrences of heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph. In Guwahati city, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) anticipates a partly cloudy sky with intermittent rain or thundershowers from today until April 3. Following this, a generally cloudy sky with light rain is projected on April 4, with intensified rainfall expected on April 5 and 6.

Residents and authorities in the affected zones are urged to stay vigilant, keep abreast of weather forecasts, and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks associated with the anticipated rainfall and thunderstorm activity. Preparedness and awareness are pivotal in ensuring the safety and well-being of all during such weather-related events.
