 Digital Desk: With 4,777 new coronavirus infections reported in a single day, India's total COVID-19 case count increased to 4,45,68,114, while active cases decreased to 43,994, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll has risen to 5,28,510, with 23 fatalities, including 11 deaths reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

 

According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.10 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.72 percent.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 442 cases.

 

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 1.58 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 1.63 percent.

 

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,39,95,610, with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent.

 

So far, 217.56 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, according to the ministry.

 

On August 7, 2020, India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the four-billion-dollar mark.

Three deaths have been reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, with two each in Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
