According to statistics updated at 8 am, there were 4,334 active COVID-19 cases nationwide, a little decrease from 4,423 on Thursday.

Digital Desk: India reported 761 new COVID-19 cases and 12 fatalities in the previous 24 hours, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. However, 619 occurrences of the JN.1 variation have been recorded from 12 States so far.

According to statistics updated at 8 am, there were 4,334 active COVID-19 cases nationwide, a little decrease from 4,423 on Thursday.

Kerala leads the country in active cases with 1,249, followed by Karnataka with 1,240, Maharashtra with 914, Tamil Nadu with 190, and Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh with 128 apiece.

Out of the twelve new fatalities, the statistics showed that five were from Kerala, four from Karnataka, two from Maharashtra, and one from Uttar Pradesh.

Till December 5, there were double digits of cases every day. However, with the arrival of a new COVID-19 variant and the cold weather, the number of cases started to grow once more.
At the height of the epidemic, which started in early 2020, the daily figures were expressed in lakhs. In just four years, the virus has killed over 5.3 lakh individuals nationwide and infected over 4.5 crore people.

According to the ministry's website, nearly 4.4 crore individuals have recovered from the illness, meaning that the country's recovery rate is 98.81 percent.

As per the website, a total of 220.67 crore COVID-19 dosages have been provided across the nation thus far.
