India reported 29689 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest daily increase in new cases in over four months.

The country had last reported fewer than 30,000 new cases on March 17, 132 days back, before the second wave started peaking.

According to health ministry reports, the country’s Covid-19 positive caseload has dropped to under 4 lakhs after a gap of 124 days; it presently stands at 3, 98,100 constituting 1,27% of total cases.

Daily cases have seen a significant fall since the second wave of the pandemic started declining in the first half of May. During the peak in May, the average daily rise kept above the 4-lakh mark.

415 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative toll of 4, 21,832.

A total of 44, 19, 12,395 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.

The figure for yesterday itself was over 66 lakh, according to health ministry data.

The number of people vaccinated with two doses is now 9,53,96,246.

17,20,110 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Monday, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 45,91,64,121.
