India asserted its global leadership in Yogasana, concluding the inaugural World Yogasana Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad with an impressive medal haul. By the third day of the competition, which ran from June 4 to 8, Indian participants had already amassed a remarkable 30 medals, firmly placing the nation at the top of the leaderboard.
The host nation's contingent demonstrated outstanding skill and rigorous discipline across various categories, securing 24 gold medals, complemented by five silver and one bronze. This dominant performance underscored India's deep-rooted expertise and growing prominence in the ancient discipline now recognized as a competitive sport on the international stage.
While India led decisively, other nations also showcased strong performances. Singapore secured the second position with six medals, including two gold, two silver, and two bronze. Argentina followed in third place with four medals, comprising two gold and two silver. Nepal also made a significant mark, collecting ten medals (one gold, six silver, three bronze), while Japan rounded out the top five with seven medals (one gold, three silver, three bronze).
