Digital Desk: On Monday, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook Indonesia's main island of Java, killing at least 46 people and injuring 700. Several buildings were also damaged by the earthquake. According to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude 5.6 quake was centred at a depth of 10 kilometres in the Cianjur region of West Java province.
According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, dozens of buildings were damaged, including an Islamic boarding school, a hospital, and other public facilities.
According to a statement, information about the extent of casualties and damage was still being gathered. The quake was felt strongly in and around Jakarta. High-rise buildings in the capital shook, and some were evacuated.
