In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Gopalganj Lok Sabha seat in Bihar recorded the highest number of NOTA votes, totaling 51,660, which accounted for approximately 5% of the total votes cast in the constituency.

Digital Desk: Following the Congress' encouragement for voters in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to opt for the 'None of the Above' (NOTA) option, the region has witnessed a significant turnout, surpassing the previous NOTA record set in Bihar's Gopalganj.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Gopalganj Lok Sabha seat in Bihar recorded the highest number of NOTA votes, totaling 51,660, which accounted for approximately 5% of the total votes cast in the constituency.

Based on the latest data from the Election Commission of India's (ECI) website, the Indore constituency has registered 2,01,338 NOTA votes, ranking as the second highest, with BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani securing the most votes at 1,160,627.

Remarkably, all other 13 candidates in Indore have received fewer votes than the NOTA option. It is noteworthy that the Congress candidate for Indore, Akshay Kanti Bam, withdrew his nomination and joined the BJP shortly before the elections. Consequently, the constituency proceeded to the polls without a candidate from the INDIA alliance.

In response to this scenario, the Congress initiated a campaign urging voters in the constituency to select the 'None of the Above' (NOTA) option on the electronic voting machines (EVMs), accusing the BJP of undermining democracy.
