New Delhi: Poverty cannot become a barrier if you have the determination to achieve your goal; this has been proven by Arya Rajagopalan, daughter of a customer attendant at an Indian Oil Fuel pump in Kerala, who bagged admission into a post-graduate course at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.

For the past 20 years, her father has been working consistently at the pump so that his daughter doesn’t have to face the struggle he had faced in life. Arya will be pursuing a degree in Petroleum Engineering at the IIT, Kanpur.

Earlier, in another inspiring feat, Arya completed her Bachelor’s from the National Institute of Technology (NIT).

Announcing the proud moment of the father-daughter duo, Indian Oil Corporation Chairman Shrikand Madhav Vaidya shared a post on Twitter that went viral. The netizens lauded Arya’s journey and her father’s efforts and struggle in the post.

“Let me share an inspiring story of Arya, daughter of # IndianOil’s customer attendant Mr. Rajagopalan. Arya has made us proud by securing entry in IIT Kanpur,” Vaidya wrote in a Twitter post.

He also shared a picture of the father with his daughter taken at the petrol pump.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri congratulating the girl and her father, tweeted, “Heartwarming indeed.

“Arya Rajagopal has done her father Sh Rajagopal Ji & indeed all of us associated with the country’s energy sector immensely proud. This exemplary father-daughter duo is an inspiration & role models for Aspirational New India. My best wishes.” he wrote.

IAS officer P Manivannan tweeted and gave his best wishes to the father-daughter duo.
