The investigation traced the origin of the contraband to Senapati, Manipur, with Jodhpur, Rajasthan, marked as its final destination

Digital Desk: In a targeted effort to curb drug trafficking ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Guwahati achieved a significant breakthrough. A coordinated operation led to the apprehension of an individual associated with an inter-state drug syndicate. The information was released in a press note from the Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Guwahati.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Guwahati Zonal Unit intercepted Naren Dutta from Guwahati, Assam, at NH-39 near Govindapur Tea Estate, Numaligarh of Golaghat District on Sunday. Dutta was en route from Manipur to Rajasthan in a car. Upon searching the vehicle, the NCB team discovered and confiscated 25.626 kg of opium and 312 grams of heroin concealed in a sack bag on the back seat.

The investigation traced the origin of the contraband to Senapati, Manipur, with Jodhpur, Rajasthan, marked as its final destination. This successful operation represents a significant blow to the illicit drug trade network operating across state borders.

The press note reads, “In the special drive against combating drug trafficking in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the Narcotics Control Bureau, Guwahati Zonal Unit, successfully identified and cracked down on one inter-state syndicate or network involved in the trafficking of opium and heroin from Senapati (Manipur) to Jodhpur (Rajasthan).“

Zonal Director, NCB Guwahati, emphasised the agency's determination to continue such operations to uphold the rule of law and protect public safety.
