International Youth Day 2022: History

The United Nations General Assembly started working actively to influence youngsters in 1965. They backed the Declaration on Promoting the Values of Peace, Mutual Respect, and Understanding Among People. International Youth Day was established when the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth recommended it to the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999. It was first observed on August 12, 2000. Since then, the day has been used to educate the public.

International Youth Day encourages equal access to education, health care, employment, financial services, and full participation in public life. The day commemorates and recognizes the contributions of young activists and volunteers who work to bring about positive change in the world.

The theme for International Youth Day 2022 is 'Intergeneration Solidarity': creating a world for all ages. The goal is to promote the idea that all generations must work together to accomplish Agenda 2030 and its 17 SDGs while leaving no one behind.
