IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya has been penalized Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate...

Digital Desk: Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakh for sustaining a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings.

The IPL targets for matches to last three hours and twenty minutes, but the slow over rate has proven to be problematic, with some games going over the four-hour mark.

"Because it was his team's initial offense of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct regarding minimal over-rate violations, Pandya was penalized by Rs. 12 lakhs," an IPL media advisory said on Friday.

Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by six wickets on Thursday, owing to Mohit Sharma's 2/18 and Shubman Gill's 49-ball 67.

Gujarat Titans' third win of the season pushed them to third place on the points table, whereas Punjab Kings are in sixth place with four points from as many games.
