Digital Desk: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has faced yet another setback in the IPL 2024 season with the news of Shivam Mavi being ruled out due to injury. The announcement came through a video released on April 3, Wednesday, where Mavi himself confirmed his unavailability for the remainder of the tournament.

Mavi, who had high hopes of showcasing his talent after joining LSG in the IPL 2024 auction, unfortunately, hadn't played a single match this season. His aspirations of making a mark in the tournament after two years were dashed due to this latest setback. The young pacer from Uttar Pradesh, who represented GT last season, was signed by LSG for a hefty sum of 6.4 crore rupees.

In the video, Mavi disclosed that he had been nursing an injury since joining the team and was eagerly looking forward to contributing to the field. However, the severity of his injury has compelled him to withdraw from the team camp and commence his rehabilitation process.

Expressing his disappointment, Mavi emphasized the mental fortitude required for a cricketer to navigate through such challenges. He acknowledged the support of his teammates and the team management during this difficult period.

This unfortunate development marks the third instance of a player withdrawal for LSG in IPL 2024. Earlier, Mark Wood withdrew due to workload management, paving the way for Shamar Joseph's inclusion. Subsequently, the team lost David Willey, and Matt Henry was brought in as his replacement.

As of now, LSG hasn't disclosed who will replace Shivam Mavi in their squad. With the team facing a series of setbacks, they will need to regroup and adapt quickly to maintain their competitiveness in the tournament.

Despite the setbacks, LSG boasts a formidable squad led by KL Rahul, comprising talented players like Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Devdutt Padikkal. The team management will now focus on rallying the remaining players to ensure a strong finish to their IPL 2024 campaign.
