Digital Desk: In the ongoing IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians bought India wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore on Saturday. For Kishan, a bidding battle between Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and SunRisers Hyderabad took place, with Mumbai Indians emerging victorious. Ishan Kishan was MI's first purchase in the IPL auction 2022, and he became the most expensive player in the event so far on Day 1 and the second-most expensive Indian player in the IPL auction ever behind Yuvraj Singh, who was bought for Rs 16 crore by Delhi Capitals in 2015. On the other hand, Australia's Matthew Wade remained unsold in the auction, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) brought Ambati Rayudu for Rs 6.75. Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) brought Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for Rs 10.75 crore, while SunRisers Hyderabad brought India all-rounder Washington Sundar for Rs 8.75 crore. Mitchell Marsh, an Australian all-rounder, drew interest from several franchises before being selected by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.5 crore.
