Digital Desk: Fighting between opposing Iraqi forces resumed on Tuesday in Baghdad, where 23 supporters of Shiite leader Moqtada Sadr have reportedly been shot dead since Monday.

According to the medical source, there were also at least 380 injuries.

After calming down overnight, fighting between Sadr's followers and the army and members of the Hashed al-Shaabi, former paramilitaries integrated into the Iraqi forces, started up again on Tuesday morning.

Automatic weapon and rocket fire from the high-security Green Zone, which is home to government buildings and diplomatic missions, reverberated around Baghdad, according to AFP correspondents.
