Digital Desk: In a significant development in the sensational Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, a local court in Shillong on August 1 extended the judicial custody of prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha by another 14 days.
The order comes a day after the same court on July 31 sent the remaining three accused - Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi, and Vishal Chauhan - to 14 days' judicial custody. All proceedings were conducted through video conferencing as per judicial protocol.
Notably, Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered on May 23 during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. His mutilated body was recovered from a valley near the Weisadong waterfall in Sohra on June 2.
According to the police, Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha had conspired to kill him with the help of three others.
Sonam was brought to Shillong by the Special Investigation Team of the Meghalaya police shortly after midnight on June 11. The other four accused were brought on transit remand the next day.
