Digital Desk: On Monday, the body of a 28-year-old man who had gone missing while his fishing venture in Yomgo River in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh was found, police have also confirmed this.
As per report, the deceased named Limin Ingo had gone fishing with two of his friends on 1ST August. However, at around 2 pm, he accidently slipped and fell into the river and was very soon taken down by the currents before his two other friends , who were some distance away, could reach him.
Ingo sank in the waters though they did their best to save him at the moment. Following the incident, a search operation was launched by the police in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Eventually, the body was spotted by residents of the Patum Bridge and recued at around 10.30 a.m on 4th August by the NDRF team, Yomken Riram, Officer-in-Chief of Aalo Police Station said.
The search efforts saw remarkable support from local residents. Hundreds of people from surrounding villages—Paya, Kabu, Patum, Logum Jini—and Aalo town voluntarily joined the rescue teams in scouring the riverbanks for days.
The authorities have also offered condolence to the grieving family in addition to commending the self of all persons who took part in the operation. This is a sad eye-opener to how dangerous flowing rivers are during the monsoon season.
The local authorities are now calling upon citizens to practice extra caution when they are fishing or moving close to rivers particularly at high current seasons.
