Senior judge Justice Sandeep Mehta was appointed to the Rajasthan High Court in May 2011. His retirement date is set for January 2025.

Digital Desk: Justice Sandeep Mehta has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court. On Sunday, the Ministry of Law and Justice announced this.

After Justice RM Chhaya retired, the position of Chief Justice recently became vacant.

Senior judge Justice Sandeep Mehta was appointed to the Rajasthan High Court in May 2011. His retirement date is set for January 2025.

On the advice of the Supreme Court Collegium, he was chosen to be Chief Justice.

According to the notice published by the ministry, "The President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sandeep Mehta, Judge of the High Court of Rajasthan, to be the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office in exercise of the authority granted by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India."

It should be noted that Justice Mehta began his career as an advocate in 1986.

From 2004 to 2005, he was the Bar Council of Rajasthan's deputy chairman. In 2010, he was the organization's chairman.
