Digital Desk: A tragic incident involving a young couple in a live-in relationship unfolded at a rented house in Kalyani Nagar’s Kahilipara area. where Nabajyoti Talukdar, a resident of Nalbari, allegedly died by suicide inside their apartment. His partner, Sushmita Das, also from Nalbari, attempted to take her own life by slitting her wrist and is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition at a private hospital.
Police sources said that Nabajyoti locked Sushmita in one room and went to another and ended his life. Somehow, Sushmita managed to alert the police before committing suicide. The authorities rushed her to the hospital and sent the body of Nabajyoti for post-mortem examination.
The couple had been living together in the rented accommodation for about a year. The house owner alleged that the duo had identified themselves as a married couple while renting the property.
A preliminary investigation shows that the persistent disputes in the relationship may have triggered the tragic chain of events. Sushmita, in her earlier statement, confirmed that the couple had been going through severe personal conflicts in recent days.
