Guwahati: A high-level meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Biswajit Pegu on Wednesday evening, July 7 along with officials of the Health and Police departments decided to institute a task force team that will look into the strict enforcement of Covid-19 curffew protocols in Guwahati.

Reports of covid protocols being flouted have been recorded from various parts of the city forcing the task force to clamp down on violators yesterday evening.

The meeting, which continued late into the night, was called to discuss measures to contain the sudden surge in COVID-19 positive cases over the last few days, after several weeks of steadily declining trends. All departments concerned are keeping a close vigil on the situation, and a city-wide lockdown would be difficult to avoid if the numbers keep going up, the sources added.
