As per reports, the film has only sold 20 tickets across the country, making it the year’s biggest flop.

Digital Desk: Dhaakad, starring Kangana Ranaut, has been a big flop at the box office, grossing only Rs 4,420 on the eighth day of its run. As per reports, the film has only sold 20 tickets across the country, making it the year’s biggest flop. The action film grossed Rs 3 crore in total.

Reportedly, the film costs between Rs 80 and Rs 90 crore to produce and is presently grappling to find online streaming distribution due to the producers’ failure to strike deals ahead of the release.

As per recent reports, several theatres have cancelled selling the film’s tickets within a week of its release. On May 20, Dhaakad was released.

Bollywood Hungama reports said that the film was released on over 2100 screens last week, but by the end of the weekend, the screens had been reduced significantly, and by the time the weekend rolled, the film had been completely removed from theatres across India. Several theatre owners have chosen to show Top Gun: Maverick, starrer Cruise, instead of Dhaakad.

Sources quoted, “Dhaakad was released on May 20 with around 2100 screens. By Sunday, May 22, approximately 300 screens, primarily single screens, had discontinued it. Since Monday, the number of screens has been reduced even further. Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise, had an early release on May 26 and was out of many theatres by Thursday.”

“In Week 2, Dhaakad is only playing in 25 Indian cinemas. In other words, it has been pulled from nearly 98.80 per cent of the theatres where it was playing in Week 1. Dhaakad is still being shown in four theatres in Delhi.  It’s not playing in a single cinema hall in Mumbai,” the source added.

The film, directed by Razneesh Ghai, also stars Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta, and Saswata Chatterjee.
