Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, who was detained and held in judicial custody, was sent to a district hospital on Friday morning for treatment.

Digital Desk: Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, the head priest of Murugha Math, was brought to the district hospital for treatment on Friday morning after complaining of chest trouble after being detained in a POCSO case late Thursday night and put in judicial custody.

According to police reports, the seer became uneasy on Friday morning, and the jail staff quickly transported him to the district hospital in Chitradurga, where numerous tests are being performed in accordance with physicians' orders.

Immediately following his arrest late Thursday night, the police took him for a medical test before presenting him before the judge, who ordered him in judicial detention for 14 days.

Superintendent of Police K. Parashuram told reporters after turning over custody of the seer to the jail officials in the early hours of Friday that they intended to ask the court to grant police custody of the seer so they could interview him.

He made it clear that there was no delay in the seer's arrest, but that it did take some time since they needed to gather evidence to support the arrest of the primary accused.

He said that the warden of the hostel managed by the Mutt had already been arrested and sent to the "Santvana Kendra" for interrogation.

He said that notices will be sent to the three other suspects in the case requesting them to come for interrogation and that efforts will be made to find them. You might remember that the warden accused Mr. Basavarajan, the Mutt's administrator (who has since been fired), and his wife of kidnapping girls and sexual harassment. On Thursday, bail was granted to the pair.

Mr. Parashuram stressed that the seer was transported to Challakere earlier after his arrest out of concern for the law and other issues. He said that the jail officials will decide whether to transfer the seer to another prison.
