The four aides of Khalistani leader Amritpal were accompanied by a 27-member Punjab Police squad...

Digital Desk: The four aides of fleeing Sikh radical preacher Amritpal Singh were brought to Assam's Dibrugarh district on Sunday, according to the police reports.

"Four imprisoned associates of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh were recently airlifted to Dibrugarh by a special Air Force aircraft," a top police source claimed. They will most likely be detained at the Dibrugarh Central Prison.

"They are escorted by a 27-member Punjab Police team, including the Inspector General of Prison," the source stated.

The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Dibrugarh met them at Mohanbari Airport under strict security.

It is still unclear why Amritpal Singh's assistants travelled to Assam. As of right now, the cops are reluctant to provide any information.

IANS contacted Assam Police spokesperson and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Prasanata Kumar Bhuyan, who stated that he was not aware of any such developments.
