order to cover up the wrongdoing, and Kirti was detained on the grounds that he
was a drug dealer.

Assam CM ordered a high-profile investigation into the case in response to widespread
outrage and public demands for a thorough investigation. CID was given the task

Police had fabricated the encounter and that the claims made by the police
officers involved were false. Following the unjustified wrongdoing, the Nagaon
Police squad, led by Anand Mishra, faced harsh criticism. Anand Mishra's
suspension was also desired by the populace.
