Digital Desk: Concerning the violence in October 2021 that resulted in the deaths of four farmers, a Lakhimpur Kheri court on Tuesday filed charges against Union Minister Ajay Misra's son Ashish Misra and 13 other people.

All 13 accused, including Ashish Misra, were charged in the court of Additional District Judge Sushil Srivastava with various offenses, including attempted murder and murder. Now, the case will go to trial.

Son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Misra, Ashish Misra, aka "Monu," is the primary suspect in the case.

Sections 302, 307, 326, and 147 of the Indian Penal Code are the charges lodged against the accused (IPC).

Eight people were killed on October 3, 2021, in Tikunia, Lakhimpur Kheri, after violence broke out as farmers protested against the visit of Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Police FIR, Ashish Misra was driving an SUV that mowed down four farmers.

After the incident, the driver and two BJP employees are said to have been lynched by enraged farmers. A journalist also died in the violence.

In the meantime, the court issued charges against four defendants — Vichitra Singh, Gurprit Singh, Kamaljit Singh, and Gurvinder Singh — against whom the charge sheet was submitted in another FIR pertaining to the murder of two BJP workers and the driver.
