Digital Desk: In a major development, the Supreme Court (SC) today (January 25) awarded Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son Ashish eight-week interim bail in the case involving the murders of Lakhimpur Kheri farmers.
Ashish Mishra cannot live in Uttar Pradesh or Delhi or the surrounding areas while he is out on bail, the SC said in giving the bail. The top court also mandated Ashish's departure from UP within a week. According to the SC, Ashish Mishra's bail would be revoked if he or his family attempted to convince witnesses in any way.

On October 3, 2021, in Lakhimpur Kheri, Ashish Mishra is said to have run over his SUV, killing four farmers and a journalist. On that particular day, numerous farmers in the Lakhimpur Kheri district were protesting on the street against the previous three farm laws. Ashish Mishra is accused of running his car over the farmers who were protesting. Eight people, including four farmers, were killed as a result of the incident's stirring violence in the area.
