Lata Mangeshkar embarking on her last journey

Digital Desk: Lata Mangeshkar, India's most beloved singer, who once moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to tears, leaves behind a country of teary-eyed lovers who grew up listening to her unchanging voice give wings to poets' words and the movie careers of legions of heroines. She passed away on Sunday morning at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she had been admitted because of Covid-related complications on January 8th. She was also a producer and composer for Marathi films and had the distinction of being conferred with the highest civilian honours of India and France.   The news of Mangeshkar's passing has saddened the whole film industry, with many taking to social media to express their condolences. Celebrities took to social media to express their condolences. The remark was shared by Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of Lata Mangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalization post-COVID-19”. Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 on January 8, i.e. 28 days. May her soul rest in peace. Lata Mangeshkar's funeral held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, with full state honours, and her mortal remains will be stored for public homage. Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and actor Shah Rukh Khan came to pay their last respect to veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, NCP Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, Aaditya Thackeray also paid their last respects to Lata Mangeshkar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached  Mumbai’s Shivaji Park and paid his last tributes to Lata Mangeshkar. The Nightingale of India, one of India's most beloved voices, won three National Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards, and, of course, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989. In 2001, she was granted the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, becoming the second vocalist to get it after M.S. Subbulakshmi, and the French gave her the Officer of the Legion of Honour. Several accolades and honours have been bestowed to her, including the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan.
