Digital Desk: On Monday afternoon, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook a hilly region in the western Sichuan province of China, the China Earthquake Networks Centre reported.
According to the centre, the epicentre was located at a depth of 16 kilometres in the town of Luding, 180 kilometres (111 miles) southwest of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan.
Internet users claimed to have felt the Sichuan earthquake from as far away as Changsha and Xian.
The centre further stated that a second earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred moments later near Luding in the city of Yaan.
So far, there have been no casualties reported.
It is to be noted that a strong earthquake struck Yaan in 2013, killing over 100 people and injuring thousands.
