The guardian minister of Pune and cabinet member for Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, stated that this is the second unfortunate occurrence for the party in a period of 15 days.

Digital Desk: BJP MLA from Maharashtra, Laxman Jagtap passed away at the age of 59 on Tuesday, party officials informed. A family member revealed that Jagtap, the legislator from Chinchwad in Pune, was suffering from cancer and had been receiving treatment for a long time.

According to reports, he passed away at a local private hospital.
In the past two weeks, the BJP has lost two state legislators.
Mukta Tilak, a party representative from Pune's Kasba constituency, passed away on December 22.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi express his condolence over the unfortunate incident. Taking Twitter he wrote, "Pained by the passing away of MLA in the Maharashtra Assembly Shri Laxman Jagtap Ji. He made a great contribution to public welfare and for the development of Pune and the surrounding areas. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti."


From the Chinchwad Assembly constituency, Jagtap served as an MLA three times. Despite his condition, Jagpat travelled from Pune to Mumbai to cast his ballot in the Rajya Sabha and Maharashtra Legislative Council elections that took place in May and June of last year. For this, he was praised in the political community.

This is the second unfortunate event for the party in 15 days, according to Chandrakant Patil, a cabinet minister for Maharashtra who also serves as the guardian minister for Pune.
"This is the second blow for all BJP workers after the passing of Tilak. We all live as a family, therefore losing Jagtap is like losing a member of the family "he said.

 Jagtap fought a major illness like cancer with his battling spirit, Patil claimed that a month ago his condition dropped to a critical level.
