Digital Desk: In response to an increase in instances throughout the world, the Maharashtra government has instructed all districts to exercise caution and adhere to the Covid-19 recommendations. "Some nations have reported the biggest number of new Covid cases in the last 24 hours since the pandemic began two years ago." In a letter dated March 17 and sent to municipal commissioners and district collectors, Dr Pradeep Vyas, assistant chief secretary (health), wrote: "Some new variety is suspected of fueling illnesses in Israel and other nations." He indicated that the government was keeping a close eye on the increase in cases and would take appropriate action if warranted.
According to Our World in Data, the global seven-day average of new cases, which had been declining since January 24 (when it reached an all-time high of 3.45 million new cases per day), peaked at 1.48 million instances (or a 57 percent decline) each day for the week ending March 2.
