The accident involved a truck transporting clinker from East Jaintia Hills, which lost control, overturned, and collided with a Maruti Eco vehicle
Digital Desk: A road accident occurred around 11:30 AM on August 21 near Thadlaskein Lake in Mukhla, West Jaintia Hills, leaving two pedestrians critically injured .The accident , involved a truck carrying clinker in East Jaintia Hills, that had lost control and had overturned and smashed into a four wheeler- Maruti Eco.
The truck, bearing registration number UP 76 T 1960, crashed into the Maruti Eco (ML 04 E 0731), causing extensive damage. The force of the accident was s intense, that it kept the driver of the Eco trapped, prompting immediate rescue operation . In the meantime, the truck struck two passers-by during the collision and they sustained severe injuries. They were immediately taken to the nearest hospital for urgent medical care.
In addition to the Maruti Eco, a tourist taxi (Maruti Alto, ML 04C 5529) was also hit from the front, while a private vehicle (ML 04D 3446) suffered minor damage in the incident. With emergency services taking some time to reach the scene, eyewitnesses said that a chaotic scene ensued with passersby racing to help the injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident to determine the exact cause and assess whether any negligence was involved. Traffic was disrupted in the area for some time following the crash.
