Following immigration formalities, the Kolkata Customs department intercepted the flier based on intelligence from Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officials.

Digital Desk: Customs authorities in Kolkata apprehended a man on Monday attempting to fly to Thailand's Bangkok with over 32 lakh US dollars packed within hundreds of sealed 'pan masala' sachets.

Following immigration formalities, the Kolkata Customs department intercepted the flier based on intelligence from Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officials.

When they searched his checked-in luggage, they discovered $40,000 (worth $327,800) concealed inside the sachet as two ten-dollar bills.

A video of a customs official ripping off the sachets showed nicely folded 10 dollar bills in pairs, sealed with transparent plastic, and containing some powdered substance, possibly pan masala. There was also a large trolley bag full to the brim with sachets.
