Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police booked a man for allegedly “circulating a rumour with the intent to cause fear” over oxygen shortage.

The man in question, Shashank Yadav had appealed for an oxygen cylinder for his grandfather on Twitter. The man had not mentioned in the tweet whether his grandfather had Covid-19. The man’s grandfather later died of heart attack.

Yogi led UP state government had been at the receiving end for their tackling of the covid situation. With the surge in Covid-19 cases across Uttar Pradesh, hospitals across the state have been witnessing an acute shortage of medical oxygen. In the past few weeks, many people have taken to Twitter with their pleas for oxygen supplies.
