Early on February 7, sources claimed that armed miscreants targeted village defence volunteers and security personnel.

Digital Desk: On February 7, fresh violent incidents erupted as armed miscreants attacked Itham Moirang Purel in the Imphal East district this morning.

Just one day after armed miscreants with advanced weapons attacked Tumukhong in the Imphal East district, this morning at around 3.10 am, a suspected armed group attacked the neighboring village of Itham Moirang Purel again with sophisticated weaponry.

Early on February 7, sources claimed that armed miscreants targeted village defence volunteers and security personnel. Security troops were prompted to retaliate after being attacked. The firing continues for some time. But there have been no recorded casualties.

It is worth noting that yesterday, miscreants with heavy weapons are said to have descended from Molham Kuki Village's hill and headed towards the sand mining area situated between Nongdam Tangkhul and Tumukhong Meetei Village.

It was claimed that the armed group had opened fire on those working in the sand and mining industries. A large number of defenseless sand miners had just about avoided an assault.
