Three Indian students studying at Connecticut institutions were killed in a two-vehicle crash in western Massachusetts.

Digital Desk: Authorities announced on Thursday that three Indian students attending universities in a Connecticut perished in a two-vehicle crash in western Massachusetts this week. 

According to a statement from the Berkshire district attorney's office, five other people were brought to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident in Sheffield at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. 

According to officials, a northbound mini van carrying seven people collided with a southbound pickup truck carrying only one person. 

According to the district attorney's office, six of the people in the minivan attended the University of New Haven and one of them attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

Prosecutors named the three victims as Prem Kumar Reddy Goda aged 27, Pavani Gullapally (22 years), and Sai Narasimha Patamsetti also aged 22 Years. They all were declared dead at the site. The four passengers that survived in the van were all in their twenties or thirties. 

The institution confirmed that Prem Kumar Reddy Goda was pursuing a master's degree in computer science at Sacred Heart.
 
"Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to Prem's family, friends, and those of you who knew him," the University stated in a statement. 

The truck's driver was identified as a 46-year-old local. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
