A massive avalanche killed one individual in Jammu and Kashmir's Machil area...

Digital Desk: On Friday, a massive avalanche struck Jammu and Kashmir's Machil area in the Kupwara district, killing one person. In addition, three persons were saved.

A series of avalanches have hit Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks. A large avalanche slammed the upper slopes of a ski resort in Gulmarg on February 1, killing two Polish visitors and trapping 21 others.

An avalanche struck the remote Paddar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district earlier on January 27. Nonetheless, there were no recorded casualties.

On January 14, another avalanche struck the district's Gurez area. On the same day, two avalanches hit the Sarbal area of Sonamarg in central Kashmir's Ganderbal. There were no reports of casualties in any of these avalanches.

Nevertheless, two construction workers were killed when another avalanche slammed Sarbal on January 12.
