Chief Minister Sangma also emphasized the broader vision of the government to strengthen rural infrastructure, including improvements in healthcare and education

Digital Desk: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today opened up two newly constructed Block Development Integrated Complexes in Songsak and Dambo Rongjeng, East Garo Hills, as an important move to support the government at the local level.

The inauguration ceremony had key personalities attending, among them were the community and rural development  (C&RD)  Minister Abu Taheer Mondal, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Marcuise Marak, and MLAs Jim Sangma and Rupert Momin.

At the gathering, Chief Minister Sangma talked about the state’s plan to boost block-level administration. Many of the C&RD blocks were in a bad state at the time the MDA government came into power in 2018, without proper space for BDOs, Mayank Jain explained.

Owing to these difficulties, authorities came up with an overall strategy to strengthen infrastructure throughout C&RD areas. the Chief Minister stated it started with six blocks and it has expanded with this initiative to all 56 blocks across Meghalaya.
A total of ₹120 crore from the central government, through the SASCI scheme, was funded for building of the new complexes. The initiative works to improve road, bridge and facility construction in the state.
Sangma pointed out that the government wants to strengthen rural infrastructure and improve health and education for everyone. All regions of Meghalaya will benefit from our efforts at complete development, he said.
He called on people to enroll for  Aadhaar because it would make central schemes easier to deploy. The state of Meghalaya continues to have one of the fewest Aadhaar enrollments. We should strive to do better so there is more honesty and openness, he said.
It is expected that these new projects will make civic operations and services much more efficient for everyone living in the region.
