"The next decade will be defined by digital technology," said Nadella.

Digital Desk: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was presented with the Padma Bhushan this year by India's consul general, T.V Nagendra Prasad, in San Francisco, California. After the Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan, this is India's third-highest civilian award. According to the news agency PTI, the 55-year-old Microsoft executive was named one of the 17 awardees earlier this year.

According to Microsoft, during his meeting with Prasad, Nadella discussed the critical role that digital technology plays in enabling inclusive growth in India. The discussion centred on India's growth trajectory and its potential to be a global political and technological leader.

"We are living in a historic period of economic, societal, and technological change." "The next decade will be defined by digital technology," said Nadella. Indian industries and organizations of all sizes are turning to technology to help them do more with less, resulting in greater innovation, agility, and resilience ".

Nadella joined Microsoft in 1992 and was quickly raised through the ranks due to his leadership skills. In February 2014, he was named CEO of Microsoft. The corporation's market capitalization was around $311 billion at the time. It is now worth more than $2.26 trillion. When Microsoft passed the $1 trillion valuation mark in April 2019, it was one of the first companies to do so. He was named Microsoft chairman in June 2021, giving him the authority to set the board's agenda.

In addition, he serves on the boards of trustees for his alma mater, the University of Chicago, and Starbucks. Nadella currently resides in Bellevue, Washington, with his family.

Nadella spoke earlier this week about the changing work culture in the aftermath of the pandemic, saying that many employees are eager to return to work to reestablish connections and rebuild teams.

Like most tech biggies like Google and Amazon, Microsoft is following a hybrid model for work where workers have to come to the office for limited days per week.
