Digital Desk: A road accident took place in the early hours of the morning at Bherakuchi in Khetri, raising concerns over road safety and emergency response.
Two night buses travelling from Guwahati towards Upper Assam were involved in the accident.The incident occurred when a speeding night bus (AS01 HC 7777) rammed into another bus (AS04 CC 9696) from behind.
As a result of the collision, one passenger sustained serious injuries, while several others narrowly escaped with their lives.
Following the incident, traffic police from Khetri reached the spot and rushed the injured passenger to Sonapur District Hospital. However, a controversy arose when hospital authorities allegedly showed reluctance in referring the critically injured patient to Guwahati for advanced treatment, leading to a heated argument between the police and hospital officials.
Notably, despite the hospital having three ambulances, none were initially made available to transport the injured patient, which angered the police personnel.
Eventually, after a delay of nearly two hours, the injured person was shifted to Guwahati for advanced treatment with the assistance of the police, sources said.
