The strikes knocked out power and water in parts of Kyiv, according to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital.

Digital Desk: A series of explosions were reported in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Monday morning. Regional authorities in northern, eastern, and central Ukraine also reported missile strikes, though the cause of the Kyiv explosions was unknown, according to Reuters. As per reports, smoke could be seen rising above Kyiv after about ten explosions.

The strikes knocked out power and water in parts of Kyiv, according to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital.

"As a result of Russian strikes, an area of Kyiv is without electricity and certain areas are without water," Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram, according to AFP. Russia has increased missile attacks in recent weeks after accusing Ukraine of causing the explosion that damaged the Crimea bridge.

The missile barrage comes just two days after Russia accused Ukraine of carrying out a drone attack off the coast of Crimea. Russia also announced that it will withdraw from a UN-brokered agreement to allow ships carrying grain from Ukraine to pass through safely.
