Digital Desk: Nongpoh, September 10, 2025, The mangled body of a man who was missing almost three months was found in the forest of Umran Niangbyrnai, close to the 6 th Battalion region of Ri-Bhoi District. It was found that the remains belonged to Carlus Tron of Ummar village who had disappeared on June 11, 2025.
Police from Umsning Police Station rushed to the site after locals reported finding human remains—mostly bones and clothing. The discovery was made when villagers who were collecting firewood, who promptly informed local authorities. Police confirmed that the clothes matched those Carlus was last seen wearing. His mobile phone, along with the SIM card, was also recovered near the body, aiding in the identification.
Carlus had reportedly vanished on his way home from Shillong, after disembarking at Umran Dairy. Despite extensive efforts, no trace of him was found until now.
After preliminary searches and the confirmations by the people involved, the remains were finally identified and handed over to the family to attend the final rites.
Andria Tron, a relative, confirmed the identity and thanked the villagers, police, and everyone involved in the recovery. He was glad to be able at last to say good-bye to Carlus in a decent way, after months of uncertainity.
Police have not ruled out any possibilities and are continuing their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Carlus Tron's death.
