Digital Desk: A new airport with heliport facilities is likely to be built and utilized for both civil aviation and Indian Air Force (IAF) operations.

In a meeting with Minister Zoramthanga, the chief of the IAF's Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal SP Dharkar, reportedly addressed security issues in Mizoram and other northeastern states.

The establishment of a new airport with heliport facilities that can be used by both civil aviation and the Indian Air Force has been discussed by the Chief Minister and the Air Marshal.

According to Zoramthanga, the government has already chosen two areas for the proposed airport in southern Mizoram, which is bordered by Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The medium-sized Lengpui Airport in Mizoram, which is surrounded by beautiful green mountains, offers air service from the hilly state to Guwahati, New Delhi, and Kolkata.

As part of the "Improvement and Upgradation of Operational and Non-Operational Facilities" project, which is being funded by the North East Special Infrastructure Development Schemes (NESIDS) and is expected to be completed by December, the airport's various projects are now being upgraded.
