As part of the MoU many add-on courses, vocational /skilling courses and internship programs will be offered by NIELIT Guwahati for the students of Cotton University.

Digital Desk: Cotton University, Assam has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Guwahati (an organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India) on 7th of June, 2023 as part of an academic collaboration between the two organizations. The MoU was signed by Prof. Diganta Kumar Das, Registrar Cotton University and Dr. Yumnam Jayanta Singh, Executive Director, NIELIT Guwahati in the presence of Prof. Ramesh Ch. Deka, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Ganesh Chandra Wary, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Cotton University.

As part of the MoU many add-on courses, vocational /skilling courses and internship programs will be offered by NIELIT Guwahati for the students of Cotton University. Moreover, joint activities will be conducted for employment and entrepreneurship development in the emerging areas of IT and Electronics for them. Courses and internships in the technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AR/VR, Cyber Security, IoT, Machine Learning (ML), Solar Power Technologies, Consumer Electronics products repairing/ maintenance, Bioinformatics and Translational Bioinformatics shall be offered to the students with high-end software and hardware platforms. In addition, NIELIT Guwahati shall also conduct job-oriented courses such as course on Programming technologies (GO, Kotlin, Julia, R etc.) Node JS and React JS, Full-stack development, UI/UX, software testing etc. in active collaboration with various industry partners of NIELIT such as IBM, Microsoft, TCS etc.

During the MoU signing meeting, possibilities of the adoption of NIELIT’s courses as vocational/add-on courses under NEP 2020 were also discussed. Training facilities can also be extended to the adopted villages of the University to reach the rural masses.

The MoU signing event was also attended by Imopishak Thingom, Mridul Pachani and Dr Saurov Mahanta from NIELIT Guwahati and Dr. Eeshan Kalita, HoD, Department of MBBT, Cotton University
