Assam may witness a new political phase as new dynamics are unfolding in Sivasagar

Digital Desk: MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi is facing a burgeoning crisis as constituents in the Jorhat constituency increasingly scrutinise his tenure. Amid growing dissatisfaction, particularly among the Ahom tribal organisation, Gogoi's political future appears precarious.

In Sivasagar, a significant political development unfolded as 24 tribal parties and organisations, under the leadership of Opposition Unity Forum's Gaurav Gogoi and Sivasagar constituency MLA Akhil Gogoi convened for a key meeting. Held at the Padma Vivah Bhavan in Sivasagar town, the gathering brought together various influential groups, including the Assamese Yuva Manch, Assam Chhatra Yuva Sammelani, and the All Assam Koch-Rajbangshi Students Union, among others. Representatives from political parties such as the CPI and Asom Jatiya Parishad also participated, highlighting the meeting's broad-based support.

Anticipation looms over separate meetings between Ahom tribal organizations and Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi, endorsed by the Opposition Oikya Manch, for discussions on electoral strategies and alliances.

Following the conclusion of the gathering led by Gaurav Gogoi and Akhil Gogoi, wherein 24 national and tribal organizations participated, a resounding show of support was extended to Gaurav Gogoi's candidacy.

Tribal and national party coalitions will be important in future elections, as this alliance demonstrated by indicating not only support but also a willingness to participate actively in campaign activities if needed.
