Digital Desk: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) apprehended a Ugandan national on Tuesday after allegedly recovering smuggled cocaine worth Rs. 8.9 crore in the prohibited markets.

Reportedly, the agency seized 890 grammes of cocaine, after the accused landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) from Entebbe, Uganda, via Nairobi, Kenya.

According to DRI sources, the accused operated as a transporter for a worldwide narcotics trafficking syndicate.

According to the sources, the accused hid the cocaine in her hair wig and bra pads. The accused told the officials that she had been promised a payment of roughly 1 lakh for delivering the contraband in the city to a designated receiver, but she was intercepted by the agency, therefore ending her smuggling attempt.

DRI source further stated, "It was a meticulously planned ops, the  DRI Mumbai officers successfully stopped a cocaine smuggling attempt by a Ugandan national, using a unique method of modus operandi in bra pads and a hair wig worn by her."

The passenger was arrested under the terms of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, of 1985, and held in judicial custody when she appeared before a metropolitan magistrate court in the city.
