Digital Desk: Along with the rest of the world, the Muslim community in Meghalaya celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr, which marked the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, on April 22. 

A sense of solemnity and tranquility penetrated the air at the Madina Masjid in Laban, Shillong, as people flocked to the glass mosque to offer prayers.
 
After prayers, Muslims went to the houses of relatives and friends to greet them. As is customary, guests were served sweets such as sheer khurma and other delicacies.
 
On the occasion, Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, chief minister Conrad K. Sangma, and Governor Phagu Chauhan extended greetings to the people.
 
Taking to Twitter, the chief minister wrote, "Heartiest greetings to everyone on Eid-al-Fitr. May this special occasion strengthen peace and harmony among our communities."
