According to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the CCP PS team began a search operation after learning with certainty that the Myanmar nationals were present.

Digital Desk: Security authorities detained a citizen of Myanmar at Moreh in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur who was carrying weapons and ammunition.

Based on specific information, Assam Rifles and state police troopers detained the suspect in Canan Veng, Moreh, near the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur.

Four mobile phones, one radio set, two 9mm pistols, 41 live bullets, and other items were reportedly found in his hands.

Although the arrested person was thought to be a gun smuggler, a probe is being conducted to look into potential connections with separatist organisations.

Five people from Myanmar, including a lady, were recently detained in Manipur for residing there without authorization.

Based on particular information, the Myanmar nationals were captured in Ngathal Village in the Churachandpur district.

They were detained after following the proper procedures because they were unable to present any proof of identification or citizenship. The examination of a suo moto case has been taken up, he continued.

This year, Manipur police detained up to 80 Myanmar nationals who had crossed the border illegally and were residing in the Churachandpur district, including women and children.
