The Special Investigation Team (SIT) charge sheet regarding the murder of 13 civilians during the failed military operation implicated at least 30 army soldiers.

Digital Desk: The Konyak Union (KU) slammed the central government for not approving the prosecution of the Army personnel responsible for the incident after the shooting incident in Nagaland's Mon district, which claimed the lives of up to 14 people—13 civilians and one soldier—turned one year old on Sunday.

The State Government established the SIT, according to union vice president HA Hongnao Konyak, who was quoted by New Indian Express. The central government has not authorised the prosecution or booking of the offenders notwithstanding the investigation and filing of the charge sheet.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) charge sheet regarding the murder of 13 civilians during the failed military operation implicated at least 30 army soldiers.

According to the findings of the SIT, the security forces didn't adhere to standard operating procedures and rules of engagement when they fired, which resulted in the deaths of civilians in a counterinsurgency ambush.

On the first anniversary of the shooting event, the family members of the victims expressed regret that justice had not been served to them although the investigating team had named 30 security forces, including a major, in the charge sheet.

The families have not received justice, according to Hongnao, because they were not punished. Additionally, the Army looked internally. We are unsure of what happened to it.

It should be noted that on this day last year, Indian Army commandos opened fire on six coal miners in the area of Oting village after mistaking them for insurgents.

When the villagers retaliated, the security personnel also opened fire on six other people from the same village and one from Upper Tiru village.

It is to be noted that one soldier also died in the shooting incident.
